It’s about time we had a proper introduction. My name is John, and I am the manager of Sunset Chess Club. If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that this brand has been an evolving journey—one filled with passion, resilience, and a deep love for chess and its culture. If you’re new here, welcome to something much bigger than just a brand. Sunset Chess Club is a movement, a vision, and a community that is just getting started. My dream is to continue to bring life into this phrase "Chess Reimagined"
When we began this journey in August of last year, we had a simple but ambitious goal: to merge chess with culture and creativity in a way that had never been done before. It hasn’t been an easy road—we’ve had our share of ups and downs, learned from every challenge, and adjusted course multiple times to ensure we are always improving. But every moment has been worth it.
I remember our first sale vividly. It was late at night on September 17th and seeing that order come through was an emotional experience. I woke up still half asleep to fulfill this order ASAP. It wasn’t just about selling a product; it was a validation of our vision, proof that people resonated with what we were building. Since then, every follow, every comment, every subscriber has meant the world to us, and it will continue to do so. The community we are growing is what fuels us to keep pushing forward.
And that brings us to Forward Fridays. This series is all about keeping you in the loop about where we’re headed. So let’s talk about what’s next for Sunset Chess Club.
Expanding Our Fashion Line
One of our biggest focuses for the future is taking our fashion to the next level. Our past collections—Sunset, Material, and Victory—have laid the foundation, but we’re not stopping there. We are working on:
New drops featuring fresh designs that blend modern streetwear with chess culture.
New Products featuring designs from all our previous collections.
Limited-edition holiday releases for those who want exclusive SCC pieces.
We want our apparel to stand out, not just as clothing, but as a statement. Every piece we create is a part of our larger vision to bring chess into mainstream culture in a bold, stylish way.
Growing Our Digital Presence
If you remember the first time you followed us. We started small, but Sunset Chess Club has grown into something bigger than we ever imagined. Our YouTube channel, Instagram, and other social platforms are key parts of our journey. Moving forward, we plan to:
Produce more high-quality YouTube content, including optimizing the writing, offering you more value in each video, and offering you a chess experience you can't get anywhere else.
Continue expand our Meta presence with more interactive content, including community features and behind-the-scenes exclusives.
Continue refining our brand’s aesthetic, making sure that everything we put out reflects our unique vision.
The Big Dream: A Sunset Chess Club Team on the World Stage
We don’t just want to sell chess-inspired fashion or create engaging content—we want to make an impact on the game itself. One of our long-term goals is to one day sponsor an Over the Board (OTB) chess team and have Sunset Chess Club represented on the world stage. Imagine seeing SCC-backed players competing at major tournaments, bringing the energy and culture of our community into the competitive chess scene. That’s the vision we’re working toward.
In-Person Events & The Future of Our Community
Would you believe me if I told you that we work full-time jobs outside of Sunset Chess Club?
This is largely the reason that we haven’t hosted in-person events yet, but that’s something we want to change. As we grow, we envision:
Pop-up events showcasing our brand and bringing the chess community together.
Live tournaments and meetups where SCC fans can connect and play chess in real life.
Collaborations with local and global chess events to expand our reach and support the game we love.
